East’s HALO Yearbook is excited to start this year’s new book with musical elements, new ideas, and more student input. Though not out to the public yet, the theme of this year’s book stirs excitement within the yearbook community, as the editors and staff are determined to produce a book that can not only satisfy the eye but also engage the student body in surveys and questions like never before.
“This theme, it is a secret, but it’s very relevant because I know most people have music in their lives, and [it] can really make an impact on high school career choices…and can just help you get through the day,” said HALO Yearbook’s Editor in Chief, Sonali Shah.
A major concept that differentiates the 2023-2024 book from the 2022-2023 one is the amount of involvement for students, as the HALO team is working hard to construct different survey questions to involve more student quotes. Questions like “What’s your favorite part of the homecoming parade?” and “What song concludes your summer vibe?” can be found in emails sent by the team.
Shah explained, “[student involvement is] very important because we need all hands on deck to create our yearbook for our school, and more students involved means more people can send in portraits and pictures and quotes. . . it just helps out yearbook overall.”
Through pictures, quotes, and design, the HALO team is looking forward to making a fun and engaging yearbook and hopes that everyone can participate too.
“Remember our memories and remember our legacy that class of 2024 left,” said Shah, as she and most of the HALO team are seniors. “It will be really fun when you look back in 10 years and look at what we did and how our homecoming went, “ I think you should buy a yearbook to reminisce about our memories in our class of 2024.”
As the new year starts, memories are important to keep. The HALO team is determined to highlight those memories in this new book.
