St. Charles East High School’s 2024 Homecoming week began on Monday, Sept. 9 with the annual Homecoming kick-off assembly. Following the first round of the class tug-of-war competition, the 2024 pie-in-the-eye contestants were revealed.
Each year, select staff members take place in the pie-in-the-eye contest to raise money for a non-profit organization of their choice. Whichever contestant raises the most money by the end of homecoming week gets pied in the face by students at the annual Ssmall Ggames event.
The first contestant announced was P.E. and wellness teacher Christopher Bosworth. Bosworth chose to fundraise for the Bigfor Big Heart of Fox Valley foundation. The Big Heart of Fox Valley is a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting D303 students and their families in need. This includes enhancing their holiday experiences, supplying their back-to-school resources and providing them with additional resources they need all year round. Bosworth raised a total of $529.56 in this year’s competition.
The next contestant announced was math teacher Bradley Kaplan. Kaplan decided to donate his competition funds to leukemia research. Kaplan ended up receiving second place in the competition, raising a total of $723.08.
