As Halloween is right around the corner, you may find yourself looking for an activity to get into the spooky spirit. Whether you are looking for something scary or just simply want to get into the fall mood, St. Charles and nearby cities hold a great variety of Halloween festivities for everyone.
The St. Charles Park District is hosting another year of the Gallery of Ghoulish Homes Tour. Annually, people throughout the Fox Valley area decorate their homes in spooky displays to compete for awards. The home displays are open to the public starting Oct. 17 and can be viewed through Halloween night. For the best viewing experience, it is recommended that viewers go to the houses anywhere from dusk to 10 p.m.
If you are looking for an award-winning haunted house experience, 5 Points Haunted House is now open in West Chicago. 5 Points is the newest haunted house experience in Chicagoland that was designed by former East student Miles McCabe who won ABC’s Great Halloween Fright Fight award in 2023. The barn that was transformed into 5 Points includes elements from the barn’s haunted past that visitors can experience for themselves. 5 points includes live action characters, many of which are from Easts own drama department. More information can be found on the 5 Points Haunted House website.
If scary activities aren’t your thing, Pinot’s Palette, a local art shop, is hosting in-house and at-home art events that offer a variety of both classic and new fall designs. The events scheduled include knitting chunky blankets, sugar skull painting and fall moon painting. You are not required to bring anything with you, as the art supplies are provided.
Throughout the month of October, Sonny Acres, a local farm known for their annual Fall Fest event, presented their Wicked Hallows Haunted Hayride. The hayride included live-action characters and a variety of spooky scenes with advanced animatronics, sound effects, and more. Although this wasn’t a new addition to the Fall Fest event roster, as always, it was a popular hit.
This fall season, there are many opportunities to get involved in fall activities around the St. Charles area. From haunted houses to cozy fall art, the city presents many activity options for everyone.
