The time of AP tests and final exams has arrived, like it does every year, and like every year, it is a time of immense stress.
Students pour their blood, sweat and tears through dedication and hard work. There is a constant circulation throughout the school of students frantically trying to make up assignments or tests and quizzes, whilst they simultaneously must worry about the final grades that could make or break their GPA.
On top of that, many students are involved in extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs, which can further induce stress, as students feel there are not enough hours in the day to do everything.
There are several ways that you can cope with the stress at this time of the year. BU Today: Boston Universities official news site has a list of 10 tips to help you with finals season: check in with yourself, wake up your senses, find a mantra, don’t forget to sleep, get organized, break down big tasks, don’t get too attached, be gentle with yourself, practice skills and ask for help.
At the end of the year, it is important to remember that all of the AP and final exam scores do not define you. It is the contributions you make to your community, the time and effort you put into your activities and how you treat others around you. We should look back at all the tests, quizzes and homework we did with pride; that we accomplished so much and reflect on our school year, no matter what grade you end up getting. All that can be done right now is to accept the stress and push through to the end of the school year.
Remember, you are only human, so don’t overwork yourself, make sure to thank all of your teachers and good luck on all of your AP exams and finals.
