This homecoming week was full of many fun activities, events and surprises. Starting from Monday all the way to Saturday night, high energy and excitement never left the atmosphere, leading to what I consider a great homecoming week.
Like previous years, the week started off with the kick-off assembly, which included the first round of tug-of-war and announcement of the pie-in-the-eye contestants. During the tug-of-war contest, the seniors took a surprisingly quick victory over the freshmen, followed by a close win for the juniors over the sophomores. The juniors and seniors then faced off against each other in the final round of tug-of-war during the small games event on Thursday night. The pie-in-the-eye participants were also announced, adding to the competitive atmosphere not only between students, but between staff members too. In general, the assembly was a great introduction to what the rest of the week would look like and built an intense competitiveness between the classes.

On Wednesday, students gathered in the main gym to watch the co-ed volleyball games. The first set of games was freshmen against the juniors and sophomores against the seniors, which had students on the edge of their seats. After a very long and close game, the freshmen gained their first victory against the juniors to head to the finals versus the seniors, who swept the sophomores to send them to play against the juniors for third place. The final game between the freshmen and seniors was fierce; however, the seniors beat the freshmen and earned first place. The juniors ended up beating the sophomores, granting them third place, the freshmen second and the sophomores fourth. The volleyball games this year were definitely engaging and full of upsets, making it much more enjoyable than previous years.
On Friday night, students packed the bleachers in their neon gear to watch the football game. This year’s game was incredibly competitive and close in score for the majority of the time; however, the Saints ultimately ended up stealing a victory for homecoming week. The neon theme was also a great addition to the lively atmosphere that students built all week, and the Saints’ win was a great way to end homecoming week.
Overall, homecoming week was a great experience and brought energy from class to class. As an upperclassman, this homecoming week was without a doubt more lively and spirited compared to my freshman and sophomore years. With participation high, the activities definitely brought the school community together to create long-lasting memories for everyone involved.
