On Sept. 26th, St. Charles East Football brought home their first win of the season against Wheaton North, for the Homecoming game. The Fighting Saints won with a close game of 24-20.
Junior Burke Niebch made an 11-yard pass completion to junior Drew Mazeska for a touchdown. The Falcons ran a good PAT, giving them a lead of 7-0 in the first quarter.
Four minutes left into the second quarter, junior Declan Sons made a 17-yard pass completion to senior Sheko Gjokaj for a touchdown with a good PAT, tying them 7-7. Niebch made a 25-yard touchdown pass, putting them in the lead 13-7 with a good PAT. Sons then made an 11-yard pass completion for a touchdown, tying them 14-14 to end the second quarter.
Seven minutes left into the third quarter, the Fighting Saints made a 23-yard field goal to put them in the lead 17-14.
The Falcons made a punt to the Fighting Saints, and they got the ball on Wheaton North’s 30-yard line. The Saints then made an 18-yard pass completion for a touchdown, extending the lead 24-14 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Neibch made an 8-yard pass completion to senior Max Serbick for a touchdown, with the PAT missed ending the game 24-20.
For the second straight year, the Fighting Saints have taken home the homecoming football win.
