This past Thursday at STCE, the all-time favorite homecoming event was held. All grade levels brought their school spirit with their class shirts, hair, face paint and cheering. It is safe to say that it really brought school spirit up a couple of levels. Small Games is an annual event that allows students to participate in a variety of games and compete against other grades in order to win for their class.
Starting off the night with bucket head, participants aimed to catch the most amount of marshmallows in their cups sitting on their heads. Seniors took the lead with their crazy talent. Seniors also took the lead in tug-of-war, as well as We Ski, which requires eight participants to move two long skis across the gym floor. Later that night, sophomores got their time to shine by winning the mattress surfing contest and potato sack race with juniors in close seconds for the mattress surfing and freshmen in close seconds for the potato sack race. Freshmen even had their chance to shine in pedal racing with an extraordinary performance against the sophomores.
The band had an amazing performance as always, and their hard work and commitment were shown through their solo performances as well as in a group. It was altogether very impressive and raised the energy and excitement throughout the room. Each grade greatly supported their class with big cheers.
Aside from the games themselves, each grade also outdid itself in amazing decorations inside the school and downtown. Starting off with the juniors, they won both the banner competition and the display case. Their impressive float at the homecoming parade also earned them yet another win. Next, the seniors came in second place in the float competition. The sophomore’s wall display earned them a win, and the Freshman’s painting skills won them the window painting competition. All grade levels really showed their spirit through their artwork and designs. The impressive designs help juniors gain a lot of points since other teams beat them in Small Games.
Overall, the 2025 Small Games were a huge success. Juniors won the spirit stick this year, with their amazing displays. This is undoubtedly an event that is anticipated every fall because of its large attendance as well as chaotic yet exciting atmosphere. Each grade competed diligently, helping earn points for their team. Each team saw great support from their classmates and worked their hardest to win. This is definitely a staple event for homecoming week that students are always highly recommended to attend. It is also encouraged for students to compete in these Small Games, to help grow connections as well as status for their class. Students are already excited for next year!
