The St. Charles East Girls Dance Team is no stranger to amazing routines and successful runs in the season. However, their previous couple of seasons were thrown off by COVID-19, as every sport was, but this year they were determined to come back strong and get that state recognition.

Beth Louis, A junior on the Varsity Dance Team, attributed the team’s success to something the other teams might not have had in the past.

“The dance we took to state, contemporary, it was a lot of acro and team skills, and that really helped us stand out from other teams.”

Even when faced with the challenge of going back to normal practice schedules and greater training, the Dance Team was still able to perform a spectacular routine which placed them 4th at the IHSA State Tournament on January 28 and 29, 2022.

The proudest moment of the season for Louis was, “State, day two, because on day one we placed seventh and we moved to fourth on day two, which was more of what we were aiming for.”

“I feel like this season was really special because our team was so close. Like as a group, this was probably the closest team I have ever been a part of. We all just got along really, really well, so it made it a lot more fun whenever we succeeded, or even when we didn’t do as well as we wanted to.”
