Know someone who does something cool or artistic? Someone making an impact in our community? Someone wiith a story to tell? A topic you believe is in need of coverage? Submit these things so we can provide recognition for our students and issues in our community. We want to cover student voices and relevant stories, and we value your insight in doing so!

What’s happening in St. Charles during the winter months?

As the holidays are approaching, you may be looking for a local winter festivity to get into the holiday spirit. St. Charles is home to a great deal of holiday activities that will not only put you in the holiday mood but also give you something fun to do during the winter months.

The ice skating rink at Lincoln Park will be open to the public during the upcoming winter months. Using the rink is free of cost, no matter how long you decide to skate. Remember to bring your skates, as they will not be provided for you.

If ice skating isn’t your thing, Leroy Oakes is offering their various skiing activities this year. Both classic skiing and cross-country skiing along the trails are offered, but cross-country skiing is recommended if you are a beginner. Bring your gear, as it will not be provided. Instructors will be available on select dates. Additional information can be found on the Kane County Park District website.

Pinot’s Palette, a local art shop, is currently offering in-house winter craft sessions for the holidays. Participants have the option to either paint a winter piece or make a Christmas wreath. If you are looking for an alternative option to an outside winter activity, this is a great way to get in the holiday spirit while staying warm.

Fox Den is currently taking reservations for their winter cooking classes for the month. Some of the recipes available include classic winter desserts, allergen-friendly holiday cooking, and basic comfort foods. You may bring a friend or family member with you to the class, or be partnered up with another person randomly. You are not required to bring anything with you, as aprons and cooking utensils are provided.

This holiday season, there are plenty of ways to get involved in winter activities within the St. Charles area. Whether you are looking to enjoy some time outside or find an indoor activity that is just as fun, the city provides many options for residents of all ages.
