When I first joined X-ray as a freshman, I had no idea what AP style was, how to conduct an interview or even the difference between news and features. I cannot thank my previous editors, fellow staff writers and advisors enough for how much they have helped me grow. I would like to especially thank previous editor-in-chiefs Yzabelle de Luna and Brynn Copp for their amazing leadership, and advisors Amanda Hayes and Jacob Stewart as well.
De Luna taught me the ins and out of confusing Adobe platforms like Indesign and Photoshop. She showed me how to take a file and make it an actual newspaper. Thanks to her, I have been able to help those around me when any inevitable Indesign issue arises. She also showed me what an amazing in-depth looks like. I attribute all of my formatting knowledge to her teaching. I can’t thank her enough for being so patient and kind.
Copp showed me what a great leader is: someone that knows how to make everyone feel included. My freshman and sophomore year, Copp really helped me begin to connect with the club. She was there at every meeting, always willing to help with articles or questions. I admired her writing and looked up to it, which I believe helped me become a better writer myself.
My remarkable advisors Hayes and Stewart have always been there, open to feedback and ready to answer any questions. When Hayes began advising my sophomore year, she helped me express my passion for news and photography. She showed me how to get more involved within the newspaper and that the newspaper could be whatever we as a club wanted it to be.
The person I would like to thank the most for this past year is Arjun Patel, my co-editor-in-chief. He has contributed so much to this paper over the past year, definitely more than I have. He has taken the time to make presentations for meetings each week, to post on social media and to send out reminders to staff writers and editors. Without Patel as my co-editor-in-chief, the newspaper would have been very different this year.
This club has helped me develop my leadership skills and writing skills so much over the past four years, but further than that, it has pushed me out of my comfort zone and shown me what I am capable of. I can’t thank the staff, editors and advisors enough for these past four years! I am excited to see what the future holds for my own journalism journey and for X-ray.

Being a part of X-ray as the graphics editor has been my favorite part of my senior year. I’m grateful I was given the opportunity to create and design the graphics, as well as strengthen my skills. I’ll always be proud of the memories, hard work and the amazing people in X-ray.
