The editorial represents the opinion of the Editorial Board, composed of the editors of all the sections of the X-Ray. After the Editorial Board discusses current issues at length, the Editors-in-Chief write the editorial so that it reflects the official opinion of the X-Ray staff.

Technology is evolving at an alarming rate. With the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI), there are concerns regarding if our society is moving in the right direction.

On one hand, many people argue that artificial intelligence is stealing jobs and making us dependent on its many conveniences. Examples of this include the use of artificial intelligence in academics, which could be harmful to future generations because, if not used properly, it can cause us to stop thinking for ourselves and prevent us from learning and remembering new concepts.

On the other hand, some people may argue that this technology allows us to focus on other things, making us more efficient with our time. For example, if you are trying to brainstorm ideas for what to do a school project on, you can use artificial intelligence to help give you ideas. Using it to give you ideas, but not do your entire project for you, is important because it would not be your own hard work if you let it do the entire project for you.

There are both pros and cons to modern technologies, and it’s important to recognize them and be mature when using the tools we have today.
