Last Tuesday, St. Charles East Girls Volleyball faced off against out-of-town rivals, the Geneva Vikings. East is ranked 2nd in the Dukane conference, while Geneva is ranked 6th.

The Saints won the first set of the match against the Vikings 25-18. With a similar score, the Saints secured the victory against Geneva in the second set, winning 25-17.

Reflecting on the game, Kate Goudreau, one of the team captains, said, “It was a big win for us. It’s always the most exciting and fun to win a conference game on our home court.” Another notable moment from the Saints’ season so far was their non-conference win this month against Benet Academy–the team currently ranked 2nd in state. “Beating Benet was a big confidence boost for us. We always knew we were a good team, but when we beat them, it really just proved that feeling,” said Goudreau. “It was my first time beating them in my four years here [on varsity,] which was really cool,” she added.

So far, the Saints hold a record of 11-2. Other big games coming up included those at the Asics tournament this past weekend, and the match against North this week on Tuesday.
